This weekend I had the chance to volunteer at the Black Tech NOLA Creator + AI Summit and it turned out to be a great experience. I’ll admit, I was nervous going in. It’s been years since I last attended a tech event.
I started my day unboxing nine brand-new Microsoft Surface laptops and setting up the booth for Copilot. Our goal was simple but powerful: help people learn how to prompt AI more effectively by:
- Writing clearer prompts
- Providing better context
- Revising and iterating for improved results

One of the highlights for me was reconnecting with some familiar faces. Andrew and Patrick from college, and Suni from my previous job with Accruent. It’s amazing how paths cross again in unexpected places, especially in a field that’s changing as fast as AI.

Throughout the day, I got to meet people from across New Orleans who are genuinely excited about what they’re building. From startups to students, from creators to educators. In between, I shared a bit about what we have been working on at apercallc.com, and those conversations reminded me why I love this space.
The future of AI isn’t fully clear yet, but one thing is, we’re moving fast. Productivity, creativity, and innovation are accelerating across every industry. From game development, music production, and personalized education to healthcare, finance, and real estate, AI is reshaping how we think and create. It’s powering breakthroughs in medical research, helping detect diseases earlier, generating new art and stories, assisting in coding and software testing, and even transforming how we design buildings, produce films, and communicate ideas. Across all these areas, the line between imagination and implementation is getting thinner and that’s what makes this moment in technology so exciting. The real opportunity isn’t just what AI can do, but how we use it to empower creativity, close gaps, and turn inspiration into impact.
