Extension Manager requires minimal permissions:

We never access:
- Browsing history
- Personal data
- Website content
- Extension internal data
Can I use Extension Manager without an internet connection?
Yes! Extension Manager works 100% offline. All data is stored locally on your device, so you can organize and manage extensions without any internet connection.
The only exception is Chrome Sync (optional), which requires internet to sync across devices.

- Click "+ New Folder" button
- Enter a folder name (e.g., "Work Tools")
- Optionally add an emoji (e.g., 💼)

Your folder appears immediately!
How many folders can I create?

However, for best organization, we recommend:
- 5-10 folders for most users
- 10-20 folders for power users with 50+ extensions
Can I nest folders inside other folders?
Not currently, but nested folders are coming soon in a future update!
For now, you can use naming conventions like:
Work - Client AWork - Client BWork - Internal Tools

- Choose destination folder
Can I put one extension in multiple folders?
Not currently. Each extension can only be in one folder at a time.
If you need an extension in multiple contexts, consider:
- Creating a "Shared Tools" folder
- Using smart naming (e.g., "Work & Personal")
Multi-folder support is on our roadmap!
How do I rename or delete a folder?

If you disable an extension in Extension Manager, it's also disabled in chrome://extensions.

Troubleshooting
Extension Manager isn't showing up in my toolbar
Solution:
- Click the puzzle piece icon (🧩) in your toolbar
- Find "Extension Manager"
- Click the pin icon to pin it to your toolbar
My folders aren't syncing across devices
Check:
- Are you signed into Chrome on both devices?
- Is Chrome Sync enabled? (Settings → Sync and Google services)
- Is "Extensions" checked in Sync settings?
- Try manually triggering a sync:
chrome://settings/syncSetup
Extensions aren't toggling on/off
Solutions:
- Refresh the Extension Manager popup
- Check if Chrome itself can toggle the extension (
chrome://extensions) - Some extensions (like Chrome's built-in ones) can't be disabled
- Restart Chrome and try again
Search isn't finding my extension
Tips:
- Try searching by part of the name (e.g., "react" instead of "React DevTools")
- Check if the extension is in a specific folder (clear filters)
- Try searching by extension ID (visible in details)
Extension Manager stopped working after an update
Solutions:
- Reload the extension:
chrome://extensions→ Click reload on Extension Manager - Clear Extension Manager data: Right-click icon → Options → Reset
- Reinstall Extension Manager (your data will be lost unless synced)
I accidentally deleted a folder
Solution:
- Extensions aren't deleted — they move back to "All Extensions"
- Recreate the folder and re-organize
- If synced, check another device for the folder structure
- Export/import feature (coming soon) will help prevent this
