Extension Manager

Easily manage and organize your browser extensions. View, enable, disable, and categorize your extensions all in one place for a streamlined browsing experience.

Getting Started

This guide will help you install Extension Manager and start organizing your browser extensions in minutes.

1️⃣ Install the Extension

From Chrome Web Store

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store (coming soon)
  2. Search for "Extension Manager" or click the direct link
  3. Click "Add to Chrome"
  4. Confirm the installation when prompted

From Microsoft Edge Add-ons

  1. Visit Microsoft Edge Add-ons
  2. Click "Get" to install
  3. Confirm the installation when prompted

Permissions

Extension Manager requires these permissions:

  • Management — To view and control your extensions
  • Storage — To save your folder structure and preferences
  • Tabs (optional) — To open extension details pages

All permissions are used exclusively for core functionality. Read our Privacy Policy


2️⃣ Open Extension Manager

After installation, you can access Extension Manager in two ways:

Method 1: Toolbar Icon

  • Click the Extension Manager icon in your browser toolbar
  • If you don't see it, click the puzzle piece icon (🧩) and pin Extension Manager

Method 2: Keyboard Shortcut

  • Default: Ctrl+Shift+E (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+E (Mac)
  • Customize in chrome://extensions/shortcuts

3️⃣ First-Time Setup

Choose Your Theme

  • Click the theme toggle (🌙/☀️) in the top-right corner
  • Select Light or Dark mode based on your preference
  • Theme choice is saved automatically and syncs across devices

Review Your Extensions

  • All your installed extensions are displayed automatically
  • See which extensions are enabled (✅) or disabled (❌)
  • View extension versions, names, and icons at a glance

4️⃣ Create Your First Folder

Organize extensions by creating custom folders:

  1. Click "+ New Folder" button
  2. Name your folder (e.g., "Work Tools", "Development", "Social Media")
  3. Choose an emoji or icon (optional)
  4. Click "Create"

5️⃣ Add Extensions to Folders

Method 1: Drag & Drop

  • Drag any extension from the "All Extensions" list
  • Drop it onto a folder name
  • The extension is now organized!

Method 2: Right-Click Menu

  • Right-click on any extension
  • Select "Move to Folder"
  • Choose the destination folder

Method 3: Bulk Selection

  • Check multiple extension checkboxes
  • Click "Move to Folder" in the toolbar
  • Select the folder — all selected extensions move together

6️⃣ Enable/Disable Extensions

Individual Toggle

  • Click the toggle switch next to any extension
  • Extension turns on/off instantly
  • Status updates in real-time

Folder Bulk Toggle

  • Click the folder toggle to enable/disable all extensions in that folder
  • Perfect for context switching (work → personal, development → production)

Quick Actions

  • Right-click any extension for quick options:
  • Enable/Disable
  • Open Options
  • View Details
  • Remove from Folder
  • Uninstall

7️⃣ Search & Filter

Smart Search

  • Use the search bar at the top
  • Search by extension name, description, or ID
  • Results update instantly as you type

Filter Options

  • All — Show all extensions
  • Enabled — Only active extensions
  • Disabled — Only inactive extensions
  • By Folder — View one folder at a time

8️⃣ Customize Settings

Click the ⚙️ Settings icon to access:

Display Options

  • List view or Grid view
  • Sort by: Name, Status, Install Date
  • Show/Hide extension IDs and versions

Sync Settings

  • Enable Chrome Sync to sync folders across devices
  • Your folder structure stays consistent on all browsers signed into your Chrome account

Advanced Options

  • Compact mode — Smaller UI for more extensions on screen
  • Auto-sort — Keep folders alphabetically organized
  • Confirm before disable — Prevent accidental toggles

9️⃣ Export/Import (Coming Soon)

Backup and restore your folder structure:

  • Export — Save your organization as a JSON file
  • Import — Restore from a previous backup or share with others
  • Perfect for new device setup or team collaboration

Context Switching

Create folders for different workflows:

  • Work Mode — Enable work extensions, disable distractions
  • Dev Mode — Turn on developer tools
  • Focus Mode — Disable everything except essentials

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Ctrl/Cmd + K — Focus search bar
  • Ctrl/Cmd + N — New folder
  • Ctrl/Cmd + E — Toggle selected extension
  • ESC — Close popup or clear search

Stay Organized

  • Use emojis in folder names for visual recognition: 💼 🔧 🎨 🎮
  • Keep folders focused (5-10 extensions per folder is ideal)
  • Archive rarely-used extensions in a "Disabled" folder instead of uninstalling
